It’s Chai Time!
June 28, 2019
Summer is here!😊
Unfortunately, the weather has been pretty moody lately, with bouts of extreme heat and then sudden downpours. But come rain or shine, our Straits Chai is the perfect brew for a spice kick on hot days, and a nice comforting brew on rainy afternoons.
What is Chai you may ask?
Well, the word Chai originates from India and it actually refers to all types of teas. The Chai that most would know of today was initially called Masala Chai; where Masala refers to a mix of spices.
As Masala Chai spread in popularity around the world, the word Masala was effortlessly removed and kept simply to ‘Chai’.
Chai typically involves a mix of spices blended with black tea, and at times with a splash of milk too!
Our Straits Chai includes spices such as Safflower, Cardamom, Star Anise, Cinnamon, Tangerine peel, Fennel and Black pepper. This heady mix of spices gives our chai a rich depth in flavour while still achieving that element of spiciness that chai is known for.
Straits Chai can be drunk with hot water, but we love adding a spoonful of honey and a splash of milk too! So, make your own chai latte with our Straits Chai and let us know what you think!
And here we leave you with our favourite Chai Latte recipe.
